Crafting a Giant Magnificent Artificial Mediterranean Olive Tree
A Collaborative Journey with Creative Director Batoul Darwiche
In 2019, Make Be-Leaves had the pleasure of working with creative director and owner Batoul Darwiche to construct a large-scale artificial Mediterranean Olive Tree for the Sirocco Restaurant in Pembroke Pines, FL.
• A New Vision for Dania Beach
Recently, Batoul reached out to us again with an even grander vision for the newest Sirocco Restaurant, opening soon in Dania Beach, FL. She envisioned a dramatic focal piece in the large bar area that would be “the talk of the town.”
• Building the Largest Artificial Tree in Our 40-year History
We embraced the challenge and designed the most immense artificial Mediterranean Olive Tree we’ve ever constructed in our 40-year history. Following detailed specifications, the tree measures an impressive 24 ft. in length and 18 ft. in width.
• Make Be-Leaves Innovative Construction Techniques
To bring this vision to life, we built a wood base structure to house the tree trunks. We secured the center trunks in a shallow layer of concrete, while the outer trunks were set in low PVC pipes secured in the potting soil. Each component was color-tagged for easy removal and reassembly on-site. This method made off-loading and staging the tree efficient and hassle-free.
An Experience from Every Angle
This magnificent artificial Mediterranean Olive Tree enhances the ground level, creating a park-like setting around the bar area. From the mezzanine level, guests can enjoy an entirely different perspective of this immense tree, adding to the restaurant’s unique ambiance.
