Custom Artificial Oak Trees for a Grand Scale Wedding Event.
Make Be-Leaves was contacted by Mindy Weiss Wedding Planner, and Kelly Revels of Vine Garden Market on St. Simons Island, GA, to provide huge, custom artificial Oak Trees for a grand scale wedding event over Labor Day weekend. The wedding festivities included a pre-wedding barbecue the evening prior to the wedding on the quiet, remote Rainbow Island, the wedding ceremony took place at The Lodge on St. Simons Island, and the wedding reception in the grand ballroom of The Cloister, on Sea Island. Quite a weekend extravaganza!
The giant Oak trees were designed with large, full round canopies, to create a substantial park-like feel in the ballroom. Four of the trees framed the main center area of the ballroom, and two trees were designed to arch over the beautifully carved entrance doors to the ballroom. Vine Garden Market preferred not have to use decorative planters for the trees, so Make Be-Leaves provided preserved moss matting, which was wrapped around the buckets to camouflage them.. The final “dressing” of the trees, of course, included dripping Spanish moss, and dramatic uplighting.
Make Be-Leaves constructed the Oak trees in a large utility bucket with the main center trunks secured with a lower layer of cement, and the outer trunks which create the wide canopy were then potted into a top layer of foam – in a manner where these trunks could be removed for shipping, and then easily reassembled on the job site. This not only made reassembly on the job site quicker and easier, it will allow Vine Garden Market to more compactly transport, store, and re-use the trees on future events.
