Boxwood is more in-demand than ever, and we have several examples to share that show you just what’s possible with our custom designs.

Hot off several successful New York City rooftop installations comes PJ Clarke’s, on the Hudson in New York City, that we’re proud to have worked with ahead of their opening. This high-profile restaurant, which gives outdoor diners a view of not only the Hudson River, but of The Statue of Liberty herself, has incorporated life-like UV boxwood in key areas of the restaurant. Working with Celano Architecture & Design Company, we created 2 foot tall potted Basil plants which were placed in pairs in rectangle planters, giving lush, green definition to their outdoor cafe seating area, outdoor entrance and  to interior seating areas inside  the restaurant.  A simple plantscaping design made all the more impressive by how well the plants created a sense of cohesion and flow.

We worked with Design Continuum of Atlanta to provide creative, life-like greenery for several Hilton properties in Georgia. The Doubletree Hotel in Savannah was one of them. They had an existing 10-foot fountain at their pool area that the design firm wanted to transform into a boxwood garden. We manufactured the design with shipping and assembly in mind, constructing a wood base structure that was cut into two sections so it could be crated and shipped economically. The boxwood plantscape was fully assembled and secured onto the wood base prior to shipping, making installation simple and clean.

Interior designers often tell me how they love the elegant, sculptured design of mixed-sized boxwood spheres, which they can incorporate in a bed of low boxwood base planting. It combines a clean, crisp look with lush, stylized greenery — much more appealing than basic wall options. The Ramada Hotel Grand Forks is a great example, ordering 36”diameter jumbo boxwood balls to be suspended on hanging chains in their pool area. They didn’t take up no floor space while adding greenery in a fun, contemporary fashion.

Make Be-Leaves also provided custom gardens for the Homewood Suites Hotel, Savannah, and is currently working on the Homewood Suites Hotel in Washington D.C.
